Yoga Trekking in Nepal

Nepal is so well known for the mountains and a natural extension to giving yourself time to be in nature is yoga, connecting the mind, body, and soul amidst some of the world’s most breathtaking landscapes.

Routes

Yoga can be combined on any trekking route in the Himalayas, although depending on your group size, you may like to avoid some of the busier trails like Everest Base Camp or Annapurna Circuit or consider these in the off-season when there are less crowds.

What to Expect on a Yoga Trek

Daily Routine: Each day begins with an energizing yoga session, followed by a hearty breakfast. Trekkers then embark on the day’s hike, covering 2-6 hours of trail. Evenings include restorative yoga and meditation sessions, often under a canopy of stars with the white-capped giants.

Accommodation: Teahouses along the trekking routes provide basic yet comfortable lodging with freshly cooked, hot meals. Upgraded comfort accommodations are available on some routes.

Guidance: Our resident yogi is a certified yoga instructors and experienced trekking guide. *Yoga instructors see below for advice on bringing your group to Nepal

Preparing for Yoga Trekking in Nepal

Physical Readiness: This type of trip requires a good level of fitness. Both trekking and yoga can be tailored to your level of fitness and ability - let us know how you'd like to be and we'll make some suggestions for your yoga trek.

Packing Essentials: In addition to standard trekking gear, pack a lightweight yoga mat, comfortable clothing suitable for both activities, and layers to adjust to changing weather.

Mental Preparation: Yoga trekking involves as much mental resilience as physical strength. Cultivate a practice of mindfulness and patience to fully embrace the experience and enjoy being in a place so different to home.

The Transformative Power of Yoga Trekking

The combination of Nepal’s awe-inspiring landscapes and the introspective practices of yoga creates a unique opportunity for personal growth. Trekking through sacred mountains, you may find not only physical strength but also emotional clarity and spiritual insight. Each step becomes a meditation.

Whether you’re a seasoned yogi, an avid trekker, or someone seeking a meaningful adventure, yoga trekking in Nepal offers an unforgettable journey to the heights of both the Himalayas and the soul. As you bow in gratitude on a mountain summit, surrounded by silence and serenity, you’ll understand why Nepal is the ultimate destination for this profound union of movement and mindfulness.

Some Things to Keep in Mind

Hydrate and Acclimatise: Drink plenty of water and allow time to adjust to the altitude to avoid sickness. Our itineraries are calibrated to help you naturally acclimatise along the way, but each time you go into the mountains is a different experience. Listen to what your body needs and work with your guide to stay healthy on the trail.

Respect Local Culture: Nepal’s trails are dotted with monasteries, stupas, and local communities. Practice mindfulness and respect local customs and traditions including being culturally respectful of how you dress. Please keep your shoulders and full torso down to your knees covered (for both genders).
