I just finished my second trip with Himalayan Trails, and it was just as epic as the first in 2019. Across both trips (first trekking in Solukhumbu, and then motorbiking to Mustang this time), the itinerary, the food+ activities, the scenery and the crew have been fantastic. The company is ethical, sustainable, knowledgeable and fun, and the crew mirror this. We went as a family group of 12, crossing 3 generations, and both times they worked with us to make sure everyone had a great experience, including our 70+ yr old 'Umma'. A huge thank you for 2 'trips of a lifetime' 🙏

Truly a trip of a lifetime. Once we had decided to spend a month exploring Nepal, we pretty well handed the organisation on to Mads and the team at Himalayan Trails and never looked back. The passion and professionalism with which every aspect of our trip was planned and executed was absolutely top rate, leaving us to soak up the whole experience of extraordinary people and places, stress free. Our guides were not only extremely knowledgeable and experienced, but excellent company and the accommodation, when not trekking, always exceeded our expectations. We will never forget the exhilaration of walking in those mountains, especially on the crisp, clear day we crossed the Larke Pass on the Manaslu circuit with the dawning sun painting the mountains golden. Our wildlife safaris in both Suklaphanta and Bardia National Park again exceeded expectations, not just in terms of the amazing wildlife (yes we did see two Bengal Tigers!) but again the expertise and professionalism of the guides and excellent accommodation. I cant recommend Himalayan Trails highly enough and are already planning our next trek with them. Thanks again to the whole team for making the memories from this bucket list trip ones to cherish.

The most professional and well-run trekking company I've ever trekked with in Nepal. From start to end we felt taken care of, well informed and in good hands. Our guide was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area we were trekking in (he is from the area), as well as the local culture and traditions. We were trekking with children aged 7 and 9, and he was able to make route adjustments when needed for tired legs. The kids made a big friend. The lodges were all great, it was a really nice diverse trek with gorgeous mountains and rich culture, even with a stay at a Buddhist Monastery. The driver who drove us to and from the trek was very good and despite the many bad roads in Nepal he drove us safely and comfortably around.

Perfekte Organisation und voll auf unsere Bedürfnisse zugeschnittene Tour. Wir waren 10 Tage im Langtang Gebiet und Gosaikunda unterwegs. Die Vorbetreuung durch Amanda und das Vorgespräch mit Raj waren optimal. Unser Guide (Kesap) kümmerte sich rührend um uns und wusste auf all unsere vielen Fragen eine Antwort. Er bereitete uns hervorragend auf den jeweiligen kommen Tag vor und organisierte alles perfekt rund um jedes Teehaus. Unser Träger (Dipak) war immer bei uns, unterstütze uns immer als „Nachhut“ und stand uns bei ebenfalls dauernd zur Verfügung. Wir konnten uns einfach auf die Landschaft, die Leute, die Höhe einlassen. Eine Traumtour, trotz teilweise schlechten Wetters. Wir würden sofort wieder Himalayan Trails wählen. Vielen Dank für die wunderschönen Tage!

Himalayan Trails – Professional Guide Training 2026

We recently conducted a three-day Professional Guide Training in Kathmandu Valley as part of our continued commitment to maintaining high professional standards.

The training, led by Ms. Jo Chaffer, focused on strengthening both technical skills and professional mindset. Our guides refreshed their knowledge on delivering effective briefings, working with maps, risk assessment, decision-making, and safely managing groups on challenging terrain. Special emphasis was also placed on proactive communication and following Himalayan Trails protocols, especially when situations become difficult in the mountains.

It was truly encouraging to see the enthusiasm and active participation from all our guides — from senior members with decades of experience to our newer and aspiring guides.

We sincerely thank Jo for dedicating her valuable time and sharing her expertise with our team. We would also like to acknowledge our guide, Suman Thapa, who assisted in the training for the first time. We appreciate his effort and commitment in taking on this additional responsibility.

We are proud of our team’s dedication to continuous learning and look forward to a strong and successful season ahead.
