Escape the chaos of the city on this short walk to the peaceful botanical gardens, where we will see the diversity of fauna Nepal has to offer.

Departure: Kathmandu
Duration: 1 day
Best Season: October to March (possible all year round)

The botanical gardens, situated in the southern part of the valley, are our destination but for most people the walk there will be the highlight! We walk through farmland and villages well away from the urban jungle of Kathmandu. The botanical gardens were opened in 1962 and now there are approximately 500 specimens of flowering and non- flowering plants. These include some 66 different species of ferns , 115 orchids, 77 cacti and succulents and about 200 trees and shrubs, some of which are endangered or rare. The gardens cover 200 acres of natural forest land with a fresh stream running through the middle.
